Regatta Competition Setup Dashboard.
The first stage of configuring a regatta is to populate the overall settings for the competition in preparation for importing crews from BROE.
The Setup Dashboard, Tools -> Setup , shows an overview of the current settings for the competition. After initial competition creation there will be no custom settings. The competition will run perfectly well without any customisations but in practice some features may be limited.
To access any of the configuration topics click on the title of the appropriate subsection header.
Once configuration has been done the screen will show the current settings and where appropriate the settings can be accessed by clicking on the individual item or by accessing full setting section.
Regatta Meeting Settings

Meeting Settings for Regatta.
The Meeting Settings, Tools -> Setup -> Meeting Settings , screen allows setting of various configuration options for the meeting.
- Regatta Name

The title used in numerous reports. This will often be set to the normal meeting title. If not set then no title is displayed in the reports.
- Regatta Date
-
The formatted competition date for use in numerous reports.
- Programme Header

The page title used in the the printed regatta programme.
- Summary Name
-
The title used in summary reports. This will often be set to the normal meeting title. If not set then no title is displayed in the reports.
- Output Style
-
The programme event title format as used in the draw:
Basic format displays event number, event full name and optionally event sponsor.
Description format uses a free form description header that can be automatically generated from event full name, trophy, sponsor and previous winners.
- Crew Name Source

The method used to generate the crew name:
Stroke Name (default) uses the surname of the stroke seat crew member;
BROE Crew Name uses the BROE crew code name.
- Event Fullname Style

The way that the event name is formatted.
All Capitals (default) the event full name is formatted as capital letters;
Mixed Case the event full name is formatted with mixed case.
- Regatta Draw Method

Determines how the crews are placed in the draw slots. Four options are supported:
Club Weighted where crews are placed randomly but where two crews from the same club are present then they will be drawn in opposite halves of the draw;
Priority Seeded where crews are placed in the draw in decreasing CRI order each subsequent crew being placed in different branches of the draw to increase the likelihood that higher pointed crews will meet in the final;
Priority Club Seeded where crews are placed in decreasing CRI order but with two crews from the same club being likely to be in separate parts of the draw;
Totally Random where crews are placed in the draw randomly.
- Feather Draw Layout Style

Specifies how the feather/spider draw layouts are formatted in the PDF programme.
Wide filling up more horizontal space when an event only has a few rounds.
Classic filling up equal horizontal space for each round regardless of the number of rounds in an event.
- Handicap Version

The version of handicap tables to use for the competition.
BR 2016 onwards British Rowing tables from 2016 onwards (Masters K age group added).
BR 2013 to 2015 British Rowing tables from 2013 to 2016.
- Refresh Seconds

Usually not used and only applies to some internal display systems.
- Announce Message

Usually not used and only applies to some internal display systems.
- Announce Stamp

- Lane Count
-
The number of lanes to be included in the draw.
- Lane *n* Name
-
The label for individual lanes.
- Race Scheduling Strategy

Signals how races for a particular round of an event will be timetabled. The auto-planner will aim for this and the scheduler compliance reports will note any non-compliance with the desired strategy.
Group Siblings - all races for a particular round of an event should fill consecutive race slots.
Flexible - no particular ordering or grouping of races of a round is required.
- Course Length

The length of the course (free text value) for use in some draw formatting options.
- Other Course Length

An alternate course length for use in events that are marked as such in the misc field of that event.
- Previous Year
-
The year that previous event winners relate to. Used in some draw formatting options.
- Crew Check Prelude
-
The notes printed at the top of each crew check sheet. If this value is not provided a default note is used.
- Cox Check Prelude
-
The notes printed at the top of each cox check sheet. If this value is not provided a default note is used.
- Colour Mode
-
Signals whether to use colours on various PDF reports.
Colour - PDF reports are produced in colour.
Monochrome - PDF reports are produced in monochrome.
- Twitter Active
-
When set to Yes results will be tweeted as races complete. This feature also requires a valid Twitter login. Ask for further details.
- Twitter Repeat Allowed

By default the result of a race is only Tweeted once. When set to Yes* this will cause any updates to a result to be Tweeted. It is advisable to only set this setting to **Yes when specific repeat Tweets are required.
- Twitter Access Token and Twitter Token Secret

Twitter authentication parameters. These are not shown and are not included in any race meeting backups. Setup access to Twitter using the Tools -> Twitter screen.
Planner Settings
Planner settings are covered as part of the regatta timetabling documentation.
Boating Locations
Boating locations are accessed via the Setup -> Boating Locations They currently have no specific functionality for regatta competitions and are not documented further here. Consult the head racing documentation for more information on boating locations.
Draw Divisions

Regatta Divisions.
Draw divisions are primarily imported via the BROE import system. Once imported divisions may be edited via the Setup -> Draw Divisions screen as follows:
- Division Code

A short alphanumeric label that is used in web display/URLs. This code must begin with an alphabetic character and may not contain whitespace.
- Division Label

The division name label.
- Re-order Divisions

Some reports display information in division order. Use the Setup -> Draw Divisions -> Re-order Divisions screen to drag and drop divisions into the correct order.
The BROE import process will usually setup this information correctly but some tweaks may be required if non-common division naming patterns are used.
Race Groups

Race Groupings.
Race groups are used to control the grouping of races in various paper based reported that are used on race day. Access via the Setup -> Race Groups screen. Consult the race day setup documentation for details on this feature.
